From Dario Carrasco

Filed under: CFAC 2007 Campaign — Comics for a Cause @ 1:07 pm

Just to let you know that my uncle Francisco passed away today. At this time I cannot think of anything to say. Just to say thanks to all who have helped my campaign last year to help him get his surgery for his illness, Kidney Failure. I’m planning for another campaign in September to help him cope up with the expenses for his dialysis treatment. Unfortunately, the campaign is a bit late. I found out recently that he stopped his treatment for about 2 months and went to visit my grandma about 2 weeks ago. He spent his last days with her. Only thing I could say is his suffering is over.

The campaign for September is still a go, now though to help his family.

CFAC 2007

Filed under: CFAC 2007 Campaign — Comics for a Cause @ 11:15 am

We’re putting together a Comics for a Cause campaign on September 30th at a Comics & Toy show and in Edmonton for the late October show, where Dario Carrasco will be one of the guests. This is the same campaign that we brought to you last year. This year it is bigger and with three charitable goals. The campaign will sell t-shirt with CFAC logo printed in front. There will also be a 2007 campaign comic book that collects several short stories contributed by different creators including myself and an auction of original arts and art pages contributed by artists. All the proceeds will go to three goals as follows:
Francisco
1) To help defray the cost of dialysis treatment to Dario’s Uncle Francisco in the Philippines. He’s required at least two sessions per week, but he has cut it down to one because of the costly expenses. Last year Francisco suffered renal (kidney) failure and CFAC helped fund his surgery to install a tube to his kidneys.

2) Lorenzo Vergara who lives in Calgary is battling Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes. Due to his chemotherapy and radiation treatments, he has not been able to work since January 2007. His family’s savings have been depleted and he’s needing some help to subsidize his home and his family’s necessity.

3) One of Dario’s office mates donated framing of the arts for the silent auction. This year CFAC will be donating some funds for Soccer Trust Funds. The trust helps fund team travel and other needs during regional and provisional meets. This is CFAC given back to those that have helped us.

If you want to be a sponsor of the campaign by donating some money to CFAC, your name will listed on the sponsor page of the campaign book. Right now we are in need of funds to help for the printing of the books. Here are what you’ll get in return when you sponsor.

$100-$300 donation: a printed t-shirt, a campaign comic book, and a (one) framed art of your choice (from a selection of 8.5X11 size art) shipped to you at no cost

$350 donation: 2 printed t-shirts, a campaign comic book, and a single original art page of Marvel and Dark Horse comics from Dari’s published work (shipped to you at no cost).

Your donations will go a long way to help these people in need. Sometimes these people need HEROES like you.
